These are some of the visualizations I have come up with so far to show the gender breakdown of the U.S. MasterChef contestants in several ways. At first, I was surprised to see that the overall gender split is pretty equal, but then I remembered that it is a reality TV show that was intentionally designed to show what the producers want the public to see. Thus, my hypothesis is that the reality of gender equality among chefs is not as perfect as the MasterChef narrative. I have included both the embedded links and pictures of the visualizations.
